Toy Story 3 (2010)
I now understand now why people say this movie will make you cry.
If you we’re someone who watched all three films, then at some point in the movie, you cried. I particularly cried during the last 20 minutes—crying on and on until the last seconds of the credits.
In Toy Story, the young boy who was once playing with our beloved toys, Andy, is now getting ready for college. And although most of the toys know that it’s the end of the road for them, a glimmer of hope shone when they ended at Sunnyside Day Care, where things seemed to be better, or so they thought. And so, under the dark roofs of their new shelter, the toys begin their search for their lost home.
The story is basically about acceptance and the pain of letting go, which in reality are very relevant topics. The effectiveness of the plot could rely on the audiences experiences. I, for example, have undergone the process of acceptance and letting go, so I can easily relate to the movie (which probably gave way to me crying on the last parts because they were all very reminiscent of reality). But even if you haven’t gone through such things, I’m sure the movie will still touch you. The movie was truly a fitting end to an amazing classic. (or is it?)
Being a critic aside, the movie was a true manifestation of the growth of the animation industry. I mean from the first film way back in 1995 to the present, the evolution of the quality of animation produced was just light years away from each other. Definitely a great leap for the industry.
So in conclusion, Toy Story 3 is a great family movie. If you have seen it in the movie, get the DVD, and watch it again! It’s one of those rare films that you wouldn’t get tired of because it contains an amazing amount of joy and heart packed in it. And, I think I’ll slip this in, I could be speaking i behalf of all the kids who grew up with the trilogy, thank you Disney…thank for taking us to infinity and beyond.
